Mariposa is Currently Hiring for the Following Positions:
1. Stocker/Receiver for Grocery Department
Mariposa Food Co‐op in West Philadelphia is seeking enthusiastic and engaged applicants for
positions in our Grocery department. Mariposa is a grocery store committed to food justice that
is cooperatively owned by community members.
Prior grocery or retail produce experience required. Focus, energy, the ability to self‐manage,
multi-task, and work collaboratively are all essential to this job.
Details
- Part‐time and full-time positions available.
- Availability during open hours and receiving times (7am — 9:30/10:00 pm). Position may include some nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Weekend availability is a must!
Responsibilities Included But Not Limited To
- Receiving and stocking orders of all sizes.
- Maintaining clean, attractive, well-stocked, and rotated displays throughout the store.
- Providing prompt and courteous assistance to members and shoppers — fielding questions about the co‐op and products, assisting with shopping needs, etc.
- Work within a team of other Grocery, Produce and Front End staff (supporting each other around covering shifts, taking breaks, and rotating responsibilities).
- Direct and collaborate with Co-op members completing monthly member workshifts of assorted department tasks.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in food retail.
- Familiarity with natural foods, a broad range of goods, relevant terms and classifications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to give clear instructions.
- Customer service oriented, prior experience with customer assistance and communication.
- Must be able to fulfill the physical requirements of the job — stand on your feet for up to 8 hours, lift 50-60 lbs, and work in cold and wet environments.
- Experience with collaborative and/or consensus decision making and food justice struggles and organizations.
Bonus Qualifications
- Prior training on product buying, merchandising and display.
- Knowledge of local foods and suppliers.
- Background supervising the work of volunteers or training others.
- Experience with cooperatives or other democratic workplaces.
- Involvement in anti-oppression work, especially work against racism and for food justice.

2. Staff for Produce Department
Mariposa Food Co‐op in West Philadelphia is seeking enthusiastic and engaged applicants for positions in our Produce Department.
Mariposa is a local food justice oriented grocery store that is cooperatively owned by community members. Prior retail produce experience required! No exceptions. Focus, energy, the ability to self‐manage, and a pleasant, approachable attitude are all essential to this job.
Position details:
- Receiving and stocking staff for our Produce Department.
- 30 – 40 hours a week position available.
- Availability may range from 7am — 10:00 pm.
- Position may include nights, weekends and holidays.
- Weekend availability is a must!
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
