Ways to Support:
Donating to Mariposa
Please consider donating to Mariposa. Every dollar you give goes to supporting our move. You can donate via PayPal:
Mariposa recently launched a new store membership drive with a goal of 1,300 total co-op members by the time of our grand opening. (We’re getting close!) We encourage you to join. It’s a great way to support Mariposa’s vision of bringing greater access to healthy, locally-grown and sustainably-produced food to the whole neighborhood. To join as a member of the new store visit: Joining Mariposa.
The purchase, renovation, and start-up costs for the new store will be approximately $2.5 million. Making a loan to Mariposa Food Co-op is a great way to support the project. Financing a portion of our expansion costs through individual supporters will strengthen Mariposa by reducing our reliance on bank loans, allowing for a stronger cash flow position in the first critical years of operation after the move, and offering our members and supporters a meaningful way to participate economically in the cooperative that we own.
Mariposa is offering six to eleven year loans with a simple interest rate of 3% to members and neighbors—competitive with current CD rates. The minimum for loans is set at $1,000.00.
For more information about making a loan to Mariposa contact Capital Campaign Coordinator, Leah Pillsbury, at firstname.lastname@example.org, who will provide you with loan documents.
Member Equity Campaign
Each co-op member makes a one-time, refundable investment in the co-op of $200. This member equity represents your ownership share in the co-op. Given the urgency of our expansion campaign, we encourage members to pay this in full as soon as possible or even increase it up to as much as $5,000. If it is more convenient, you can also increase your equity in monthly or quarterly installments. To find out how much equity you have sign on to MESS or contact Financial Manager, Dan Ohlemiller at email@example.com.
You can increase your member equity by:
- Signing into MESS (mess.mariposa.coop) and clicking “add equity with PayPal.”
- Contacting Dan Ohlemiller at firstname.lastname@example.org to bill your account or set up recurring billings.
- Asking a cashier to add equity to your account next time you are in the store.
- Mailing or dropping off a check made out to “Mariposa Inc.” with “equity” in the memo.
